How long is the Science Olympiad?
Our Chico Science Olympiad will begin at 8 am and end after the Award Ceremony at 12:30 pm.
What happens if my team shows up late?
Late arrival may mean exclusion from a session. We are not allowing students to join a session once the competition has begun. However, they can still wait and participate in session 2! They may also choose to participate in the hands-on activities going on.
How many chaperones can we have per team?
We ask that you bring one or two chaperones for your team.
What happens if I bring more than the maximum number of chaperones?
Due to limited space, we are please asking that you do not bring more than the maximum number of chaperones. However, if they do arrive, there is room outside on the lawn, for them to join your team before and after sessions.

What are your expectations of chaperones?

Chaperones’ main roles are to be with their team before and after events and to watch students who are not competing during the hands-on session.
We ask chaperones to please stay with their designated team throughout the event.

May a chaperone bring another child or family member that is not participating in the Science Olympiad?
No, due to limited space, only students registered for a team are permitted to attend.
Can family members or friends of students attend to watch the event?
No, due to limited space, only students from a team are permitted to attend.
Can a child leave when their event is completed?
This is a team competition and students will need to stay with their school team until the event is completed. Coaches and chaperones will need to supervise their team members until all students are safely with respective parents or designated adults.
